Handbag Theft at the Sherlock Holmes Museum, 221b Baker Street London, NW1 6XE
on Saturday 26th March 2010 at approximately 1.25pm.

Note: the male carrying the bag returned to the Sherlock Holmes Museum shop on Friday 16th April 2010
in the company of a different acomplice.


CCTV caught this gang of three handbag thieves entering the Sherlock Holmes Museum Shop on Friday 26th March 2010, where they stole a purse from a customer's bag while she was shopping. The CCTV film recorded in HD clearly shows the modus operandi of this gang. The camera being used is a Panasonic HS700 which has a 240GB hard drive meaning that the camera can be used to cover up to 10 days of recording (on in the morning and off in the evening). The camera can also record in very low light conditions such as a street scene at night.

The following images are taken with a Canon S2iS digital stills camera set to take pictures automatically on a time-lapse basis every five seconds from 6 am to 7 pm every day (the interval can be adjusted to suit conditions). Other Canon cameras can also be used and other makes but check to see if the camera model you select has a time-lapse capability.

The thief is the first to enter (about 5.7" tall) followed by his assistant (about 5'9" tall) at 1.19 pm.
